Organization Overview:
Founded in 2011, The Lunch Project (TLP) is a Charlotte-based 501c3 nonprofit
organization dedicated to empowering communities by supporting school lunch
programs in Tanzania, teaching empathy education and inspiring service in all
children. Internationally, this organization provides students with the fuel to learn
while stimulating economies through locally-sourced goods and services. TLP is
enabling a community-led, locally sourced lunch program 5 days a week to over
1800 primary school students at two public primary schools in Tanzania, and still
growing. Stateside, the goal is global empathy education that provides a highlyvisual
demonstration of the impact individual actions can make around the world.
Our empathy outreach has evolved into a research based, integrated education
program focused on increasing empathy in American youth. To-date, 7,000+
students from more than 20 Charlotte-area public and independent schools have
participated in local empathy education programming.


Position Title: Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Status: Part Time (20 hours/week)

Reports to: Executive Director

Position Summer/Quick Overview: The Marketing and Communications
Coordinator will provide marketing and communications support for The Lunch
Project organization (TLP) with variable weekly employment at 20 hours per week.
S/he will have the unique opportunity to support the organization through a period
of growth and change.

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for leading all
Marketing, Brand Development and Communications Strategies for TLP. The
Marketing and Communications Coordinator will be expected to attend periodic
team meetings, and meet with the Executive Director and staff bi-weekly. The
Marketing and Communications Coordinator will work closely with a group of
volunteers and other paid staff team members to execute plans.

Duties & Responsibilities (Include, but not limited to):
Work with the Executive Director to define short-term and long-term marketing and
communications needs for the organization. He/she will work with the Executive
Director to develop yearly objectives and plans for marketing strategy and media
relations.


Marketing:
• Develop and manage fiscal year marketing budget, timeline of activities,
tracks project costs, controls expenses and provide annual budget
recommendations
• Coordinate efforts and implement marketing strategies related to website,
social media communications, e-mail marketing, newsletters and other
marketing campaigns.
• Plan and coordinate in conjunction with team production of advertising and
promotional communications projects, including print, electronic, special
events, and direct mail, to fulfill those aspects of the marketing plan.
• Serve as liaison with outside consultants, copywriters, and advertising
agencies.
• Lead/assist in production of video, and Web projects. Review specification
sheets, obtain and prepare bids, and acts as liaison with vendors (both paid
and volunteer) in such areas as delivering marketing material, scheduling
proofs, and meetings.
• Track, collate, and maintain inventory of marketing materials and photo
work, artwork, film and archived files.
Communications/PR:
• Develop an annual outreach and public relations plan in collaboration with
the Executive Director to include media relations and public-speaking
activities.
• Authorize articles and interviews regarding organization's promotional
activities, and ensures adherence to corporate identity standards.
• Develop and supervises media relationships (both local broadcast and print
media), and maintains a database of media contacts. Help to coordinate
community event exhibits, promotions, and participates when necessary.
• Seek opportunities to present TLP to the community through regional
associations, nonprofit organizations and corporate affinity groups

Qualifications
The ideal candidate would have the following capabilities and qualities:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related field.
• 5-7 years of marketing and/or communications experience required.
• Experience managing vendor relationships and successful project
management.
• Previous manager of personnel and teams to complete projects required.
• Understanding and passion for the organization’s mission.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills; high-energy, proactive, selfstarting
administrator with the disposition to work in a virtual environment.

• Team player who will be a constructive and collegial partner to board, staff
and external stakeholders; demonstrated experience managing up.
• Proven writing, editing and oral communication skills.
• Ability to attend meetings and events during evening hours and weekends as
needed.
• Tech savvy, proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, and experience with
design software platforms preferred.
Working Conditions: Most work can be performed remotely. Must be available to
work during the daytime hours although some flexibility in management of projects
is expected.
